TL;DR:

I created and actively manage The Featured Snippet, Performics’ award-winning SEO newsletter. I grew The Featured Snippet from 240 page views per month to 1,277 page views a month and was recognized with BrightEdge’s 2022 Community Ambassador award and shortlisted for Performics’ 2020 U.S. and Global Vanguard awards for top agency case studies.

Challenge:

Clients and internal Performics teams wanted a central resource to receive news and updates regarding changes in the SEO industry. The Featured Snippet was created to help solve this client request; however, the newsletter took a lot of time and team resources to put together each month. This meant that the “news” was stale and important SEO updates were delayed. In order to be a trusted resource for industry news, the team needed to find a way to get news out consistently, quickly, and thoroughly, while being efficient with team member’s time.

Approach:

  • Expanded the team: I expanded the Featured Snippet team from two members to seven members, allowing for different members to own different monthly tasks of The Featured Snippet.
  • Implemented project management: Implemented monthly project management timeline & strategy to ensure The Featured Snippet would be delivered to the team & clients by the first Friday of each month.
  • Improved user experience: Designed and created an HTML email template to improve client user experience when receiving and viewing monthly issues of The Featured Snippet.
  • Increased distribution: I expanded distribution of The Featured Snippet to the entire Performics U.S. team and regularly distributed throughout social media platforms.

Results:

  • Increased YoY page views by +426%: Increased distribution and improved timelines helped increase page views from 240 to 1,277 per month, a +426% increase in YoY page views. Google Analytics data provided below:
  • Improved time to publication by one week

  • Recognized as Performics’ 2020 U.S. & Global Vanguard award finalist
